FAQ & Troubleshooting
Common questions and fixes, based on the official itch.io page and Team Nebula’s replies.
The soul (heart) doesn't move during combat on PC. What do I do?
Team Nebula released patches so the soul follows the cursor on PC. Make sure you have the latest build (e.g. 0.2.1.2) from itch.io. If it still doesn’t move, try using the keyboard (arrow keys or WASD) instead of the mouse—several players reported that fixed it. If you have a 60% keyboard without arrow keys, the settings menu may be limited; try an external keyboard or check for updates. The devs have apologized for control issues on some setups and may release further patches.
Can I play in windowed mode on PC?
As of the latest info, the game often starts in fullscreen and many players couldn’t get windowed mode via command line or config. Team Nebula hasn’t confirmed windowed support yet. It may be added in a future update.
Android: "Problem parsing the package" or "device not compatible"
The game targets 64-bit Android; support is typically Android 12–16. If you get a parse error or “not compatible,” your device may be 32-bit (e.g. armeabi-v7a). Team Nebula said they’ll look into 32-bit/armeabi-v7a support in a future update. There is no official 32-bit build yet. Only download the APK from the official itch.io page to avoid bad or modified files.
Will there be an iOS version?
Team Nebula has said no—there are no plans for an official iOS release. Options are limited to running the Android build via third-party tools (e.g. an Android emulator or app that runs APKs on iOS), which are not supported by the devs.
Is there a male Frisk option / can I disable futa?
Team Nebula replied that male Frisk will be added in the next update as an option. So you’ll be able to play as male Frisk in a future release.
Is the game safe to download? Does it have malware?
When downloaded from the official itch.io page, the game is safe. Team Nebula has stated it’s free of malware. Android may show a warning because the APK isn’t digitally signed—that’s expected. Only download from team-nebula.itch.io/lovemaniac. A report of a failing hard drive was likely coincidental; the devs hadn’t seen hardware issues before.
Is there a Discord server?
Team Nebula has said no—there is no official Discord for LoveManiac. Follow them on X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, or Patreon for news (see About & Links).
Will there be censorship / SFW option?
This has been asked on itch.io; the devs haven’t promised a censorship setting. Check the official devlog or comments for any future news.
Frisk and Chara gender? Is this an AU?
In Undertale canon, Frisk and Chara have no specified gender. LoveManiac is a parody with its own take. For future content (e.g. Storyshift Chara), Team Nebula has said only Storyshift Chara is planned as a fundraising goal; other AUs aren’t expected soon.
Arrow keys / movement don’t work on PC
Ensure you’re on the latest build. Try keyboard for the soul instead of mouse (or vice versa). If the settings menu is grayed out, you may need a keyboard with arrow keys to navigate. The game was originally mobile-first; PC controls have been improved but can still vary. If problems persist, check the official itch.io page and devlog for patches.
